I've never read any of this journalist's other stories, but I might have to. He appears to do good research and lays things out very well. This was one of the better and clearer articles I've seen on the direct ties between terrorist organizations we're fighting and "rebels" we're helping take over a nation we had at least polite relations with not six months ago.

This one should be interesting in court, since a major case was just concluded that established a distinct limit on the Qualified Immunity police officers have while discharging their duties. Essentially it declared that if they are acting outside the law they are NOT immune, even for acts committed during their shift that they may or may not have thought were legal. The original case had to do with someone recording the police on their cell phone, but the ruling can be applied to many areas where law enforcement violates someone's rights. Basically, if you're not acting within the legal framework you're personally accountable.

Personally, if I was this lady, I'd be contacting every gun rights organization in the nation for legal help and suing the person who let the police into the apartment without a warrant, each officer involved every step of the way, right up through their chain of command and into civil government. While doing that, splash it across every major media outlet in the nation so they can't cover it up. It's not about the guns in this case, I don't care WHAT the police took, the fact that it was firearms just adds another dimension. In fact, if any of those firearms were NFA items the police are potentially looking at federal jail time. Even if none of them are NFA (meaning guns or related items governed under a certain set of federal laws that are very specific in regards to who has access and possession.) I would report each and every one of them as stolen to the BATFE, along with the names and badge numbers of those responsible.

If one of the firearms really is a Thompson and not a semi auto clone then it is most definitely an NFA item. If she had any suppressors, short barreled rifles or shotguns.... all of these are handled under federal law. It's not a permit issue, but actually a tax issue. Owners submit paperwork for each item and pay for a $200 tax stamp that goes on the paperwork once approved. At that point they can take possession of their NFA item or modify the existing weapon into the NFA governed configuration, such as a short barreled rifle or shotgun. After that, they must retain control of that item anyone removing it from their control is in for all sorts of legal hassles with the feds. It actually gets interesting when the police have to interact with someone in a LEGAL manner who is using an NFA item, because their normal policy of disarming the person would put them in violation of NFA laws. Since most police officers are not trained on NFA laws it can be an interesting and tense discussion while the owner tries to explain that they cannot legally surrender that item to the officer and that doing so would make both parties guilty of a federal crime.

Well, step two accomplished in killing Obamacare. Now it goes to SCOTUS and hopefully is shot down there as well. At that point it becomes easier to attack the rest of the program.

It seems to have been missed in all the debt debates, but if the new healthcare bill is allowed to take full effect our budget would be even worse off than it is currently projected to be. Life isn't fair, legislating fairness doesn't work, and we as a nation can't afford to pay for fairness. We need to get our national budget in order, start paying down the debt and let the economy start rolling smoothly again, not find new ways to spend money we don't have so the government can feel good about itself.

Public officials in that town really need to be replaced with some new ones who aren't quite as corrupt and self centered. Get off your high horse folks, it's satire, we stopped attacking people for writing it nearly three hundred years ago in this country.
