Just keep pushing, congress. You serve us, you represent us, you can be removed by us.

Bank Bill passed

The bank bill that violates the fourth amendment has passed both houses and just has to get signed by Obama. As far as I'm concerned, every individual who voted for this bill, or did not vote against it, is a traitor.
There is no question that the specific provision I mentioned in a previous post directly violates our Bill of Rights. Our Bill of Rights is a document that outlines things that are not to be considered alterable, later amendments had different concepts, but that initial set very specifically are meant to be considered inviolate. They outline things that are inalienable rights, not things granted but acknowledged. The Bill of Rights phrases it as God given rights, which is good a foundation as any even for those of us who don't practice the same religion as the founders of this nation.

A great way to put it

I'm borrowing this without express permission (now with permission, thanks), the author is Pale_Pony from AR15.com, the link takes you to the original post. I thought it was a great expression of the inequity between how the 2nd amendment and the others are treated these days.

Excuse me, I'm late for classes...

I'm enrolled in a Free Speech safety class that I have to take to become a journalist.

Then, I'll have to take a State exam and hope that I score a passing grade.

THEN, I'll have to get slander/liable insurance before I can be published...you never know who's feelings I might hurt with the mighty pen/printer.

I'll probably have to register my PC or my typewriter too, and get annual registration renewals.

Of course, there may be other specific municipal qualifications that I'll have to pass too...maybe even a local tax on my PC.

AND THEN I'm off to my Freedom of Religion class...That's on M-W-F's...

I had to schedule my Fourth Amendment class for T-Th's because of a scheduling conflict with my First Amendment class...so until I pass THAT exam I guess that I'll just have to be unsecure in my person, property, papers and effects...

Dodd and Frank are trying to pass a bill that is a blatant violation of our nation's Bill of Rights. It's not even attempting to be subtle or sneaky about it.

Forget needing a warrant to demand an investment firm or other financial institution hand over records, they want it to be on request and maybe even just straight periodic reports. If you aren't familiar with the 4th Amendment, here ya go.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

That's not vague or limited, it is quite clear and simple along with wide spread to cover anything that might be of interest. The bill that has already been passed in the house completely ignores this minor inconvenience.

Please, pass this along to everyone you know and urge them to contact their senators and demand that this die a quick and clear death. Then maybe suggest that Dodd and Frank be sent back to summer school on the foundation of our country and our laws. Heck, let's pull up the PUBLIC records of who voted for it in the house of representatives and send all of them back to class.
